All Good Bananas: Wellington Goes Bananas for Fairtrade!

All Good Bananas is excited to be supporting the Wellington community during Fairtrade Fortnight.

In the lead up to Fair Trade Fortnight, Fairtrade banana supplier All Good Bananas, is proud to announce that Wellington takes the Fairtrade-banana cake - boasting the highest per-capita sales of its bananas compared to any other New Zealand city.

Over the last 7 years, since the company was established, Kiwis have munched their way through more than 55 million All Good Bananas, with Wellingtonians eating on average 25 per cent of All Good Bananas sold to date.

By choosing Fairtrade bananas, consumers have helped 150 Ecuadorian banana farmers in El Guabo have access to development funding supporting 2,000 kids to get a proper education, 8,600 people to have access to much-needed healthcare, and the establishment of a children’s special needs’ school.

Matt Morrison, GM of All Good Organics, is pleased to see more and more Wellingtonians supporting Fairtrade. “Wellingtonians are inherently socially conscious, and want to ensure that their growers are getting a fair deal."

On the whole, Kiwis consume more bananas per person than in almost any other country in the world - eating over 18 kilos of bananas per person each year in total.
